Die cast tractor
A slightly battered die cast tractor and trailer.
You can see an amateur repair on
the side away from the camera.
In good condition considering it's age though.

Taramakau bridge
The road/rail bridge over the Taramakau River
on the West Coast of the South Island, New Zealand.
I read somewhere recently that there is a possibility
of this bridge being closed, a shame as it is
one of the last road/rail bridges left on 'the coast'.

Rocking horse
We saw this in a shed a few months ago.
I believe it was a rocking horse in the throes of restoration.

Gummies in the bush
I know I'm pushing it to call
this little border a fence but
really it is the gumboots under
the bush that intrigue me.
This is in a public garden.

Demolition of an old treasure.
I believe this part was added to the main house when it became a rest home. |
the little boys watching enjoyed this as did the big boys |
I wish I had got a photo of the building before they started
the demolition. It was built in the 1880's and was quite a grand old house. Some of the windows were saved as was the grand staircase and I hope the wrought iron work along the verandah was as well.
Since 1959 it has been operating as a rest home run by a Christian Trust. Yesterday, sad to say, the building was demolished.

A Clyde relic
Some pictures we took in Clyde (New Zealand)
earlier this year. The building once housed
the local Builder and Undertaker.
Clyde was one of the towns on the gold trail
way back in the pioneering days.
There was a lot of junk lying around the yard
so we took photos of some of the older junk.

Treasures from Timaru
We spent a wet day in Timaru earlier in the year. Later my
husband showed me these photos he had taken while
I was in one of the shops - it pays to look up occasionally :)
It's all too easy to keep your head down,
especially on a wet, windy and miserable day.

Out walking one day and came across Islington, one of the original big homes on the Taieri. A hedge is a fence, yes, no? ...
