St Luke's on The Taieri
Built in the 1960's St. Luke's is an
Anglican church for the people of The Taieri Plain.
Open during office hours,
otherwise it is shut during the week,
as are the other churches in town,
because of abuse and vandalism.
Services are held twice on a Sunday and once on Wednesday.
Recently refurbished it is a comfortable, warm church.
It has an extensive library, both books and dvd's.
The tiny chapel is used for the Wednesday service
The stained glass windows are memorials to a past vicar and parishioners.
The bishop's chair, which the bishop does not sit on when he visits.
He prefers something a bit more comfortable and sturdy.
'The Crown of Thorns'
above the door as you leave.
