With the two earthquakes that hit the
all public buildings throughout the country had to be re-assessed
for future insurance purposes.
This of course included all church buildings of all denominations.

Unfortunately a lot of the older churches in the country
didn't come up to standard and needed too much work for their parishes
to bring them up to scratch.

This has resulted in a large number of small country parishes,
and some inner city parishes as well,
losing the churches they have worshiped in for generations.

Holy Tinity Anglican church in Lawrence is one such church.
These are some snaps I took recently as we were passing through.

The final service in Holy Trinity took place on
January 11th, 2015 at 8:30am
presided over by Bishop Kelvin.
He describes the 1000 year old font belonging to
the church and gives a brief history of it here.
