Western weka

 West Coast, NZ.

joining Eileen for Saturday's Critters.

  1. They sure are fast little buggers when they want to be! You got some great shots.

  2. Hello , it is a cute bird! I like the name too.
I am still running a little behind visiting my critter links! Thanks so much for linking up, have a great new week ahead!

  3. A busy little hen & very similar to a kiwi?

    1. Similar in that they are both flightless birds and about the same size. They belong to the same family I believe. The kiwi is nocturnal and not very often seen at all. Wekas are quite cheeky at times and this fellow didn't seem to be shy at all.

  4. I think it is pretty in a subdued sort of way.
